Peace through tourism needs everyone

Travel can build peace. You can help.

For 40 years, the International Institute for Peace through Tourism has brought together travellers, hosts, tourism leaders, educators, communities and young people who believe that every journey can build understanding. Whether you can give an hour, an idea or the support of a whole organisation, there is a place for you in the IIPT family.

Why IIPT

Why Join IIPT?

Peace Parks

Dedicate an IIPT Peace Park

Any community, city, school, hotel or organisation can propose a place to join the network of more than 450 IIPT Peace Parks. A Peace Park can be a garden, a promenade, an urban forest or a heritage site. What matters is a shared commitment to peace, heritage and a healthy environment.

  1. Choose a meaningful place that your community can gather in and care for.
  2. Email IIPT with a short description, photos and the partners involved.
  3. Agree the dedication with IIPT and your local authority or landowner.
  4. Hold a ceremony and unveil an IIPT Peace Park plaque, often on the International Day of Peace, 21 September.
